About the Provider

Dedicated to providing every patient with high-quality care in a welcoming environment, Dr. David A. Cowan is a board-certified dermatologist providing comprehensive surgical and nonsurgical care as the Director of Dermatology at Butler Medical Providers. Dr. Cowan provides nonsurgical and surgical care for common conditions such as acne, psoriasis, rashes, eczema, skin cancer and more. Dr. Cowan has advanced training in Mohs surgery and is highly skilled and experienced in the treatment of skin cancer using this advanced technique.

Dr. Cowan graduated summa cum laude with his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Rochester, before receiving his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Cowan was among the top five graduates in his medical school class, was named a Merck Scholar, and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

After receiving his degree, Dr. Cowan completed an internship in internal medicine at George Washington University Medical Center and a residency in Dermatology at Johns Hopkins University, serving as Chief Resident and Medical Student Education Coordinator. Dedicated to furthering his knowledge, he also completed a fellowship with the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at Emory University in Atlanta.

Throughout his medical training and experience, Dr. Cowan's work has appeared in numerous publications, presentations and research projects on the latest developments in the field of dermatology.
